Other Places to Find Coupons that Work
Coupon sites are a great source of coupons, and anyone looking to start couponing should be using them.
That being said, coupon sites shouldn’t be your only coupon source.
There are a few other great places that we think you should definitely be using!
Brand’s official websites
If you’re looking for some great websites for coupons, I’d highly recommend checking right on the manufacturer’s official website.
This is a trick that people often miss – but brands often post coupons for their products right on their website.
Here’s a quick list of brands that post coupons:
- Bounty
- UncleBen’s
- Tide
- Betty Crocker
- Hefty
- Colgate
- Tyson
- Swiffer
- PalmOlive
- Pampers
- NatureValley
- Kellogg’s
- Pillsbury
These sites might not always offer deals, but often they do. So before you buy something from a brand, check with that brand’s official website to see if they have a coupon section.
You might find a great discount!
Newspaper coupon inserts
One of the best places to find coupons is in newspapers.
Even in our ever-increasing digital world, the good ol’ fashioned newspaper still competes when it comes to coupons.
But, we know what you’re going to say, “I don’t want to spend money on newspapers!”
We get it.
No one wants to part with the $3 to $6 that newspapers cost, every time they want a coupon.
Fortunately, you don’t have too.
The truth is, there are many ways for you to get newspaper coupon inserts or even newspapers, for free! Or at least get them at a huge discount, so they’re worth your while.
Here are our quick tips for doing so:
- Keep a lookout for free local papers.
- Buy your newspaper at the dollar store. You’ll pay just $1 for a paper, instead of $3 to $6. So you could get three to six papers for the price of one.
- Check with your local recycling center. You can use org to find one near you.
- Visit nearby stores on a Monday and ask if they have any leftover Sunday papers.
- Get a discounted newspaper subscription from com.
Coupon clipping services
This is a trick used by extreme couponers:
Use coupon clipping services!
Many couponers order their coupons online.
These sites will deliver coupons right to your doorstep.
Although selling coupons isn’t legal, coupon clippers are allowed to charge for the time and effort they put into clipping the coupons and mailing them to you.
Using a coupon clipping service is a great way to get high value coupons. Since they’re cheap, costing as little as $0.05 to $0.08 for a coupon, the amount you get back in saving outweighs that initial cost of ordering them.
With some places, you can order whole coupon inserts and get coupons in bulk too!
Ordering coupons isn’t for everyone, but if you want to start extreme couponing, then give it a go!
Take a look at these places where you can order coupons:
- Coupon Flea Market
- Klip2Save
- Coupons Clipped Cheap
- The Coupon Clippers
- West Coast Coupon Clipping
- Bargain Coupon Clippers
- The Coupon CarryOut
In-store
Local stores can be great sources for coupons – and often people forget to check them!
From a small local grocery store to your nearest Walmart store, there are so many retailers that provide coupons right in the store.
Some offer tear-pad coupons, some offer them on the store bulletin boards, and others give away coupon booklets.
Many stores offer coupons in some way. Check the bulletin board, or near the front of the store for coupon booklets, and look out for any promotional materials that the store’s giving away, such as flyers or booklets.
Lots of stores give you coupons at the checkout too. These are called Catalina coupons, and they can be high value!
Contact companies directly
One of our favorite ways to get free coupons is to just ask!
Get in touch with your favorite brands and ask if they have any coupons available.
A lot of them will do, and they’ll send them right to you!
All you have to do is ask. Sure, this won’t work with every company, but for many of them, it will.
Some companies have a coupon request form you can use to get in touch, and for others, just find their “contact us” page. Pretty much all stores have a contact page on their website.
Here are a few examples of companies who’ve been known to mail out coupons to customers who request them:
- Activia
- Amish Kitchens Egg Noodles
- Angel Soft
- Arm & Hammer
- Birds Eye
- Bumble Bee Foods
- Burt’s Bees

Extreme Couponing Tips and Tricks
Now that you know some awesome websites, and other places, to get coupons, it’s important that you know how to get the most out of these coupons.
Sure, you could just print out a coupon and use it. If you want to get maximum savings though, you need to use these couponing tips and tricks.
Use manufacturer coupons and store coupons together
A key to successful couponing is to use a manufacturer coupon and a store coupon on the same purchase.
Yes, some stores do indeed allow this.
Not all of them, though, so do keep that in mind.
Certain stores will let you use a manufacturer coupon, like a Folger’s coupon for example, and a store coupon, like a Walmart coupon, for example, on the same item.
In many cases, this means that you double your savings!
This is a trick that many extreme couponers use.
Here are a few tips to keep in mind when doing this:
- Make sure the store allows the use of two coupons on one item. You can find this out by looking at the store’s coupon policy – more on coupon policies below.
- Generally, a manufacturer coupon will have the words “manufacturer coupon” printed on it.
- The manufacturer coupon and the store coupon you have need to be for the exact same size, color, fragrance, etc. where applicable. This doesn’t apply to more generic coupons, like save $1 on any product from Folger’s.
Combining coupons, where possible can really save you a lot of money. For example, if you had a coupon from Target Circle that gave you $2 off, as well as a Folger’s coupon that gives you $3 off, you’ll more than double your savings if you use them together on the same item.
Combine coupons with sale items
Anyone looking to get great deals when they shop should use coupons on products that are on sale.
Using coupons on sale items will save you a ton of money.
Hit up the sale section, get some great bargains, then use a coupon at the checkout to save even more money.
It’s important to note that not all stores will let you use coupons on sale items.
Walgreens is an example of a store that allows this, but not all do. Again, just check the store’s coupon policy (we provide a list of coupon policies from popular stores below!)
Use coupons on BOGO Items
Mix coupons and Buy One Get One Free (BOGO) deals and you’re set!
You’ll save so much money.
Let’s say there’s a BOGO offer for a two-pack of Bounty Paper Towels that normally costs $7.
Normally, you’d pay $14 for the two packs.
Now though, you pay just $7 for both of them. Then, you also have a coupon for $2 off Bounty products.
You apply the coupon and get the paper towels for just $5 – you’ve saved almost $10!
Amazing, right?
You can save even more money by using a manufacturer coupon and a store coupon on your purchase!
You could get both items for free!
Stop & Shop, for example, lets you use coupons on BOGO items.
Of course, not all stores allow you to use coupons on BOGO items – but more on store coupon policies below.
Get coupon overage where you can
This is a trick that extreme couponers use.
Basically, coupon overage is when a person is actually owed money by a store.
It happens when the value of your coupons is more than the purchase total.
Let’s say that your purchase total is $30, but you have $35 worth of coupons.
In this case, the store would actually owe you $5.
For example, an item that normally costs $5 is on sale for $3. You have two coupons each of which gets you $2 off, so they save you $4. This means you’re owed $1 in overage.
Now, not all stores allow overage.
Each store has its own policy.
Walmart, for example, allows overage, as does Dollar General. Target does not allow overage.
If a store does give you overage, generally you’ll get it in cash or store credit.
Overage opportunities don’t appear often, and it does take a lot of planning and strategic use of coupons to get it.
However, do try to seize opportunities for overage, as it can save you a lot of money.
Use rebate apps alongside coupons
This is something that extreme couponers do as well.
Coupons on their own save you money.
You’ll save even more though if you use them with rebate apps.
Rebate apps give you cashback when you upload a photo of your receipt.
Some apps will give you cashback for any itemized receipt, and others will require you to purchase specific products.
Once you’ve uploaded a photo of your receipt, you’ll get paid, usually with gift cards or money to your PayPal account.
You can double your savings by using rebate apps and coupon websites together.
Take a look at these receipt apps:
Receipt Hog
Ibotta
ReceiptPal
Checkout51
BerryCart
Shopmium
Fetch Rewards
Punchcard
For example, let’s say you’re buying paper towels that cost $6. You have a manufacturer coupon that gets you $1 off paper towels, and a store coupon that gets you a $1 off as well.
Next, you upload your receipt to a rebate app and get a $2 rebate.
This means you pay just $2 for a product that you should cost you $6.
Get cashback as well as coupons
If you’re shopping online, I’d recommend shopping through cashback websites.
Cashback websites give you money back when you shop.
This could be anywhere from as little as 1% cashback to 75% or more!
Using cashback websites and coupons allows you to save even more money, and it requires little effort on your part – who doesn’t love easy ways to save money?
A lot of cashback websites have policies that don’t allow you to use coupons from third-party websites.
(Just check the policies and rules for the cashback site you’re using.)
Fortunately, many coupon sites offer cashback too.
In fact, many of the coupon websites above also give you cashback, such as:
- Rakuten
- Rebates
- TopCashBack
So you can use coupons and cashback on the same purchase and spend less!
Prepare before you shop
One of the things that sets extreme couponers apart from your regular old couponers is that they always prepare before they shop.
Whether you’re going to combine store coupons with manufacturer coupons or use coupons on BOGO products, properly preparing before you shop can get you better deals.
Here are a few couponing preparation tips:
- Check the coupon sites we mentioned above, as well as offline sources, like newspaper inserts.
- You want a good combination of manufacturer and store coupons.
- Before you shop, see if any manufacturer coupons and store coupons match up.
- If they do, you can gather manufacturer coupons for the items you buy often, and gather store coupons for the same items.
- Check rebate apps for offers. See if there are any deals on Ibotta that match up with the coupons you have. You could save even more money.
- Check the weekly ad for the store if it has one.
When you plan and prepare before you shop, you’ll know exactly which coupons, rebates, and deals you’ll need to use.
It’s easy to miss out on extra savings if you don’t scour multiple coupon sites and check those store ads and rebate apps.
Read up on store coupon policies
If you’re going to use coupons in-store, so at places like Walmart and CVS, you need to know what each store allows and doesn’t allow.
At some stores, you’ll be able to use coupons on sale items, and at others, you won’t.
How you can stack coupons and what you can use them for can differ quite a lot from store to store.
Now, we’re not saying you should learn the coupon policy of every store.
However, having a quick read of it before you go shopping can save you time at the checkout and let you know what types of coupons you can use and how you can use them.
It can be a good idea to print out a copy of a store’s policy and take it with you.
Then you can make sure you follow the store’s rules.
Most stores have their coupon policy on their official website.
Here are some coupon policies from well-known stores:
- Albertson’s coupon policy
- Costco coupon policy
- CVS coupon policy
- Dollar Tree coupon policy
- Dollar General coupon policy
- Family Dollar Store coupon policy
- Hy-Vee coupon policy
- Hannaford coupon policy
- Kroger coupon policy
- Lowes Food coupon policy
- Lucky Supermarkets coupon policy
- Meijer coupon policy
- Publix coupon policy
- Randall’s coupon policy
- Rite Aid coupon policy
- Sam’s Club coupon policy
- Save-A-Lot coupon policy
- Stop and Shop coupon policy
- Target coupon policy
- Walmart’s coupon policy
- Walgreens’ coupon policy
Stores often update their coupon policies, so check back to ensure you’re up to date with each store’s coupon policy.
Closing Thoughts
There are some great coupon websites and apps out there. Before I go shopping., I always check at least a few of these websites to get some coupons that’ll save me money.
I don’t discount other sources though, like newspapers and in-store flyers, so I’d highly recommend checking those out for coupons too.
Don’t forget cashback sites and rebate apps either – using cashback and coupons in conjunction with coupons will really increase your savings.
